Dora Pejačević - Orchestral and Chamber works

Post by synergy543 »

Dora Pejačević was an amazing woman composer of several large orchestral and chamber works (106 compositions) and her works must all be in the public domain. There are currently only a few represented on IMSLP. It would be great to have her orchestral scores such as Symphony in F sharp minor Op.41 (1918), and Phantasie concertante Op.48 for piano and orchestra (1919). And it would be great to have more of her chamber works represented as well.

so far as I know, very few of them were first published before the 1970s (though her piano waltz-caprices Op.28 were published in 1913 and could join her piano quartet here; possibly Op.24 (Erinnerung), also her piano trio Op.29 (pub.1913, like the quartet published under "Pejacsevich") and the sonate slave Op.43 (Edition Slave, ©1919), too. Just need to find people or libraries who have them, then digitize them...

http://www.worldcat.org/ can be useful for the first step.

yes, but it helps to search with various spellings and/or using other WC features (search for -all- editions) if you want to find the 1913 editions, not just the 2012 ones :)

Right. It has an Advanced Search but the date limits fail. Click on either date in the left column of the results.

And not all libraries adhere to WC.

which is why it's a possible first step and one learns to use as many sources as one can, of course- for example in this case it's probably a good idea to learn to use various library catalogs in Croatia also. And to learn the ways in which those libraries that do appear on WC don't appear fully there (the legislature-and-sausage issue/how-things-are-made...: when using a resource, try to learn, over time, -exactly- what it is it's telling you and what it's not telling you, on a case-by-case basis if possible; this can only help with one's researches... :D )
