Druschetzky

Post by KGrady »

I'm interested in tracking down some of the music of Georg Drushcetzky, specifically works for solo timpani and orchestra, more specifically the Partita for Six Timpani (in C major, I think). I haven't been able to find any scores or parts through my usual sources, so I'm hoping someone here can either upload it or point me in the right direction. (He's nearly 200 years in the ground, but I don't know when or if his works were published.)

I'll appreciate any help I can get, as I may have an opportunity to perform one of this next summer if I can track a score or parts down!

The Hungarian National Library (National Széchényi Library) has a very large collection of Druschetzky manuscripts (108 titles). http://nektar2.oszk.hu/librivision_eng.html
I found a Concerto for Oboe, 8 timpani and orchestra, a Partita for 6 timpani, 2 fl, 2 ob, 2 hn, 2 tr, and a work with the title Versenymű 6 timpanira (91,47 fol), all in ms.

I am not aware of any modern prints, would guess that Naxos produced their own performance material for their CD recordings. You could inquire with them if they are willing to lend it.
I am sure the National Széchényi Library would also be willing to supply scans or microfilm:
Beware: They used to charge exorbitant "copyright" fees (several 100 US$ per title for performance rights) in addition to the copying fees, that let me cancel an order for a number of their oboe works...
