Revueltas? (for posterity)
Revueltas? (for posterity)
Silvestre Revueltas (1899-1940) was one of the most important Latin American composers of the 20th century (probably of all time). I've set up a wishlist section here showing many of his works that can be uploaded to the site. Almost certainly, everything he wrote is under copyright in the US (unfortunately). However, we currently don't have even a single work on the site. Possible important targets could be Sensemayá, Ocho por Radio, and Homenaje a Federico Garcia Lorca (La Noche de los Mayas would be the best, but I'm not sure when it was published). I know they'd be blocked for a ridiculously long time, but wouldn't it still be good to at least have some representation?
Re: Revueltas? (for posterity)
I guess, sure, but obviously no one has come forward with such contributions. And for those of us with the will and means to do so, what's the point, really? It's just another one of those unfortunate situations with this self-imposed block.

Re: Revueltas? (for posterity)
Prior to NAFTA, when a there was a similar odious "restoration", a number of his works which were published in Mexico without notice and not renewed had actually fallen into US public domain. There were also works first issued by US publishers - posthumously as I recall. If somehow they were not renewed, they would still be free in the USA as they would be ineligible for "restoration."
Re: Revueltas? (for posterity)
All seem to have been renewed. Too bad...I was hopeful for a minute
Re: Revueltas? (for posterity)
With the EU server open, most of his works could now potentially be accessible from the site (except probably the songs). Any reconsiderations?
