New page (Publisher list) - comments wanted

Post by Peter »

Please have your comment on my draft merger of the plate number list and the publisher list which can be found here and is meant to replace these two pages.

The list should be sortable on the publisher's name, plate number and place, but should look nice too. Most publishers have multiple names, series, and plate numbers in its history, and this creates some table formatting problems as you can see. In order to be sortable, these entries need to have its own row, but on the initial page, it looks better without multiple rows per publisher.

Therefore I hide the publisher's name on second and further rows. After the table is mixed up by clicking on the sort icon, you can still reveal the name by hovering the mouse over the first column. It still does not look neat at all, so suggestions are welcome.

Publishers having no own page but having more information can have this information in a last column, or it can be hidden like under Carulli (the formatting of this latter still needs to be fixed).

I like the idea of putting the subsidiary imprints as a subsection of the main publisher, as you did with all of the Breitkopf Gesammtausgabe. I'd recommend doing the same for other such derivatives - like the all name permutations for Enoch, Durand and the like.

The other recommendation is to move the somewhat extensive commentary - as for C.G. Röder and Salabert (probably stream-of-unconsciousness added by me), to the individual pages for those publishers so that comments can be kept to an absolute minimum on this nice, clean, easily navigable chart you've made.
