I would write a letter to the editor if he weren't so dead!

I noticed in the earlier (non-Kalmus) print of the Malherbe/Weingartner edition of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, the editors made the decision to swap several of the trombone and ophicleide (or tuba, in this case) parts in the fourth movement, completely eliminating the third trombone's infamous pedal tones. I am sure Berlioz would see them taken to the scaffold for such a heinous act! Someone might consider mentioning this in the "misc. notes" section for that score.

Someone might consider retypesetting this score! You've uncovered one of the reasons why some people retypeset some scores. :-)

I've added the notes to those edition sections.
