Request Philipp Christoph Hartung (1706-1776) music scores

Post by TheMusicScene »

I noticed that the brilliant German composer Phillipp Christoph Hartung (1706-1776) is missing. I am familiar with this composer because his harpsichord compositions (I do not play the harpsichord) I use to practice on my great bass recorder. Supposedly, although PC Hartung was known as brilliant, he just composed for his students and so is not well known. A harpsichord book I purchased years ago just has a few pieces from him. I would love to see more of his works. I am relatively new to the music scene, and I am suggesting some possible additions to this great website.

Thanks for the information. It is not quite what I am looking for, and it looks a bit more basic than other compositions that I have seen by him, but it is good to know that he wrote more for other instruments also.

Since those 'compositions' appear to be examples from a theory text, this doesn't surprise me. Are there any specific works you'd like to see? For those who go about acquiring and uploading scores for other members here, it is probably more helpful in general to provide at least a couple starting points rather than just a blanket request.
