British popular music 1850-1914

Post by WilliamBunting »

Uploaders wanted.
This is a temporary “gallery” at the British Library’s website. Quote:

“Leaf through illustrated sheet music for 188 songs and piano pieces from the heyday of Victorian Music Hall. Much of the sheet music has illustrated covers, often of artistic merit or historical interest. From this rich resource, we've chosen songs and piano pieces that evoke a sense of location by virtue of their subject matter, lyrics, cover design, or all three.”

I have put three on IMSLP so far:
http://imslp.org/wiki/The_Lights_O%27_London_(Connelly,_Michael%29#IMSLP159175
http://imslp.org/wiki/Britannia_The_Gem_Of_The_Ocean_(Shaw,_David_Taylor%29#IMSLP159177
http://imslp.org/wiki/The_Manchester_Ship_Canal_(Percival,_W.%29#IMSLP159176

They are downloadable from British Library’s website. as individual jpg files, 5-10 per song. Please remember to choose the "big size for printing" version. The covers are ready to send to IMSLP, but the scores need converting to pdf and stitching together. The only snag is that you need to set up a new composer page in most cases.

Looking forward to your co-operation.

Add a ) character to each URL otherwise they don't work. :-) e.g.
http://imslp.org/wiki/The_Lights_O%27_L ... ,_Michael)
