Full score for 5 songs for voice and piano

If uploaded, it would be blocked from downloading unless published prior to 1923. Novak died in 1949, so he is protected in the EU and any "Life+70" country until the end of 2019. However, in the US, works published prior to 1923 are in the public domain, so this could go on the US server.

If published 1923 or after, you'll have to try to find a copy to purchase, I'm afraid, even though this is in the public domain in Canada and other "Life+50" countries.

To add some detail:
While op.7 and op.9 were published 1899/1900, according to worldcat op.8 was only published in 1942 by Urbanek in Prague.
Only if this was properly registered and renewed for copyright in the USA, this will be blocked. Unfortunately, there seem to be very few extant copies (U Edinburg, Dan. Royal Library Kopenhagen).

I have received a note from an Ottawa store ,a 'Classical Print Music Specialist', who notes that Urbanek in Prague who published this in 1942 'no longer exists' ( which isn't surprising considering what was happening then) . How, if at all, does that affect the copyright issue?

Unless some other publisher subsequently picked it up, that makes it an "orphan work". WorldCat shows no entries other than the Urbanek edition, so it would seem it is an orphan work.

Different countries deal with orphan works differently. You have to check with a copyright lawyer or someone familiar with copyright law in your own country to see if use of copies would be legal where you intend using it.
