CPE Bach Essay on the Art of Keyboard

Post by klaviersonic »

I'm wondering if anybody has a scan of the English translation for CPE Bach's Essay on the True Art of Playing Keyboard Instruments. I do own a hard copy of the Norton Edition, but it would be really nice to have a digital copy to read on my tablet!

Send me an email if you can help me out.

Many Thanks!

Klaviersonic.

I don't think this will be possible. The first edition (1949), which is the one of which you no doubt speak, was edited and translated by William J Mitchell (d. 1971). This is copyright the world over, and most certainly in the US.

Sorry to nag, and to quote rules, but be slightly careful:

No criticism of klaviersonic, who probably assumed the translated work is out of copyright. But, from what daphnis says, it isn't, so rule 6 applies.
