Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get my hands on a free-to-download piano solo arrangement of good ole Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony. Preferably in PDF format. I know there's a file here at IMSLP (the Niemann arr.) but since that one's marked TB :'( at the time...

We cannot release the files marked TB, as they are not public domain in the US and we have no way of absolutely verifying location (even with IP geolocation)

If I'm not mistaken, at least two publishers have reprinted piano-reductions of symphonies 4, 5, and 6. Check one of the online sheet-music stores. That doesn't get them online, but it's a constructive alternative.

This is a case where I unfortunately had to honor what is probably a scarecrow notice by Peters (who is the world leader in adding notices long after a work was published without notice). Like most Peters issues of the 1920s and 1930s, Niemann's edition was most likely originally published without notice and thus immediately injected into the US public domain. It has also very possibly be reprinted by Kalmus (subsequently Belwin, then Warner, now Alfred). Trouble is, without an actual copy sans notice, or a Kalmus to compare side-by-side, I have to take Peters' (extremely dubious) copyright claim at face value. Oh, well....

Here's a specific reprint of Tchaikovsky's Symphonies 4, 5, and 6: Great Symphonies Transcribed for Piano Solo, Vol. 1. Published by Carl Fischer, PL1213.
