I'd wager any Liszt piece with a catalog # containing a letter at the end was probably discovered post Serle, and thus isn't PD.
(It's 212a, though.)

That list isn't perfect. I wrote down for my own list, which uses Hyperion's website as well as the booklet that comes with Howard's Hungarian Rhapsodies recordings, that it's 212a -- though I may have done that because there's nothing else that IS 212a. Unfortunetly my Vol. 57 is tucked behind who knows what and I can't get at it right now
Hyperion's site (which doesn't give a number at all) says it's PD though, so that may be true.
What I mean, though, was that most likely a catalog number with a letter will have been published too late to be PD, since most of them weren't known by Serle, who did the cataloging.

Ok, I checked and 'Mariotte' is indeed 212a. The list is wrong (possibly because S212 has two versions). It also doesn't call it "Valse Pour Marie" in the booklet (I imagine that must be a dedication?). There's no 212b at all, either.
