Just to echo my request on the work page (http://imslp.org/wiki/Fantaisie_and_Var ... nn_Ludwig))

a. Does anybody know if apiano reduction exists
b. Is it in public domain
c. Does anybody have it on a shelf somewhere

I mean im happy to buy and upload if its PD, but a cursory glance came up negative, and i would like to perform the piece, and rehearsal is challenging without a piano reduction

I can find no history of such a reduction ever extant.

Are there any clever people out there who want to have a go at making a piano reduction?

Can see what I can do... Do you want it to make a part for Bb-clarinet (or A clarinet for that matter)? I'll start with a full score, and you can expect the reduction shortly after the score is posted (I have some other things to do, so I can not say how long it's going to take).

It's not that hard to do with works of this era. In addition to the solo line, you take the Violin I for the top staff, the Cello for the bottom and fill in as needed from the other strings and wind parts. Just keep it more-or-less playable by an average pianist. Enter it all on Sibelius, Finale or the notation program of your choice and - voila - you've got a new clarinet and piano reduction that's protected by copyright for your lifetime plus at least 50 years.

Putting it in Bb would be nice, since its in C anyway, and theres no major reason to mess around with A, since theres no strings, if you would be happy to do it i would be much appreciative, ive got quite a bit on the go at the moment, (Ravel Piano Concerto parts from full score), so many thanks

Thanks for the tips! Don't worry, I've done some reductions earlier so I know the game. Since there is no score (at least not posted yet), I'm making that as well (I'm finished typing it, but it needs to be proofread 3 or 4 times). The piece need some minor editing (there are quite a few minor mistakes and a couple of major ones).

Sorry, I was unclear and subsequently misunderstood. What I really meant to say was:
I will not make a separate Bb-Clarinet part. Since the solo part is written as it is playing it in D-major will not sound right. What I meant to ask was if you wanted me to transpose the piano part to B flat major thus keeping the clarinet timbre sought by the composer extant. This can of course easily be done to A major as well (I would need to click twice on the transpose button).
I'll do some proof reading and layout adjustments tomorrow. The score should be posted within a couple of days if we're lucky.

Well yes, i knew what you meant, but i too was unclear. Id hope the solo wasnt transposed anyway, since im learning it as written that would be most inconvenient. Thanks again though, your efforts are much appreciated

The full score is now posted.

A piano reduction in C (for clarinet in C) and one in Bb (for clarinet in Bb) is now posted as well as a "universal" solo part. Enjoy!!! And please comment and proofread!
