Virtuoso cornet solos were enormously popular at the turn of the 19th/20th centuries. They have not only virtually disappeared from modern-day performances (recitals, band/orchestra concerts,) but much of the sheet music in this genre has vanished from sight. I, for one, would be most interested in sheet music for these cornet solos. While versions for cornet and piano would be most welcome, it is the orchestrated versions for cornet and band, or cornet and (theater) orchestra, that would be most highly prized. I'm thinking of works by Jean-Baptiste Arban and Herbert Clarke -- and numerous other cornet luminaries. However, in many of these pieces, the composer was left uncredited and only the name of a virtuoso cornet soloist was mentioned -- who may have only added cornet acrobatics.
I think this is a significant and unjustly neglected genre.

Re: Virtuoso cornet solos
Many thanks to the LOC for posting the two cornet/piano solos by Casey. Please keep them coming, especially virtuoso cornet (or trumpet or keyed-bugle) solos. (Either with piano accompaniment; or even better, with concert band. There was a wealth of repertoire for solo cornet -- even if nowadays 99.9% of these virtuoso solos have disapppeared into dust-covered boxes.
