Hello!
I have beethoven piano sonatas and in the first page it's says "Copyright renewal assigned 1923" does it mean that it's not public domain?

Copyright renewal is only for the US, and pieces published before 1923 are PD there. I'm not sure whether the edition is PD in Canada.

how can i check it?

Who is the editor and when did they die? Otherwise, wait for someone more educated with scores.

That's the old Hans von Bulow-Siegmund Lebert edition originally issued in 1894-95. It's public domain worldwide.
