I just became music director at a church, and I'm planning to do a solo recital in the next few months, since they apparently have had similar things in the past.
The major piano work I was planning on is Mendelssohn's Variations serieuses in D minor. I was wondering if there are any program notes about it (when/why it was composed, speculative names for each variation, etc.), since I'm something of a music history buff and would like to introduce each piece.
Anything people can get me would be great. Thanks!
Program notes on Variations serieuses?
