Donation of 500+ scores by Music Edition Baroque Opera – Best Practices for Uploading?

Dear IMSLP Administrators and Community, and especially IMSLP bureaucrats,

I am writing to inquire about contributing a significant collection of newly created urtext editions of baroque arias, overtures and complete operas, which includes works by both well-known and lesser-known composers, under the name of Music Edition Baroque Opera (baroque-opera.com).

This collection comprises almost 600 meticulously prepared scores, and I would like to make them freely available to the IMSLP community. I am reaching out to seek guidance on the most efficient manner to upload such a large number of files while ensuring compliance with IMSLP's standards and requirements. I already started uploading the scores, one by one, following the established guidelines. A colleague of mine is willing to help me with the upload, but I wonder if we could (or should) add my "project" to the list of new projects on IMSLP?

Additionally, if IMSLP would welcome this contribution to its vast repository of public-domain music, I would like to inquire if there are any special protocols or acknowledgments for such large-scale contributions.

I would appreciate any advice on how best to proceed, including specific steps, preferred formats, or batch upload options. Please let me know if I should reach out to someone directly or if there are established guidelines for large-scale contributions.

For now, I am slowly submitting scores manually, one by one.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining such a vital resource for musicians and researchers worldwide.

Best regards,
Dragan Karolic (Music Edition Baroque Opera, baroque-opera.com)

You can absolutely add your scores on here. As time goes on, one of the copyright reviewers will leave you suggestions on your uploading. The only way to approach a project like yours is to upload them slowly over time if your uploading scenes and sections from Opera works. Projects like this are a journey on here and not a sprint to get everything up here as quickly as possible as we aim instead for accuracy and organization on here. I think your category page has been made so you should be good to go to make sure people can look at all of the pages your scores are on from the linking in the Editor or Arranger fields.

I would suggest starting with a few files a day and if you have to do a batch upload on a workpage, you can just add one file and you can just keep adding them below in the uploader into a batch. Then over time once you got all the kinks out with any errors your making, once your perfect with the metadata your doing and does not require any sort of editing on our parts on the workpages, you can increase your upload amounts even further. But please do not do too much at first, thanks.
