The first verse is, in fact, by Leon Gozlan. The second verse, however, was written by his long-time librettist Jules Barbier (1825-1901). This information comes from a footnote on p. 2 of the score. It is confirmed by an entry for the song in the Bibliothque National Français (https://data.bnf.fr/fr/14717088/charles ... r__cg_375/)
