Reporting Errors

Post by lancec »

Is there any way to report errors in scores?

For example, in bar 171 of the Sibelius typset version of the Hebrides Overture, the 2nd oboe has an A natural which should be an A#, but I don't know whether I should try to fix this myself or just tell somebody. (I've notified the Sibelius/Avid company, of course.)

It's correct in the other version.

For one-off or small numbers of errors, simply edit the page and add a brief description to the particular file's listing at the line:

|Misc. Notes=

If the errors in a file are too numerous to list concisely, make a note in the "Misc. Notes" to refer the gentle reader to the work's Talk page, and list them there instead. An example of a page with numerous major errors or omissions in various scores that are listed in this way is Berlioz's opera Les Troyens.

Would it have been too much trouble for you to tell us:

Which score? i.e., IMSLP # 51356, 04768, 00901, or 23373? (Yes, there are FOUR DIFFERENT scores you might be referring to)

Which violin part?

What sort of error?

Where in the second page?

Vague reports like this are almost next to useless. (And especially, you didn’t follow either of the suggestions above on the work page.)
