Unable to upload files to the US server
Hi all! I'm trying to upload a 1926 score to the US server (CA copyright won't expire until 2043). Unfortunately it won't let me. I get the following error:
Re: Unable to upload files to the US server
What is the title that you are willing to create? This looks like a problem related to the MediaWiki software running on the main IMSLP website, rather than a problem specifically occurring on the US server.
At CPDL we've recently experienced a similar problem, that was due to a specific feature of the UTF-8 character coding that applies to diacritics. UTF-8, like other Unicode character codes, allows to use the so-called "combining characters", that are intended to modify other characters. Please find details here.
For example, the ṅ character (n with a dot above) may be represented either by a single UTF-8 character, or by a sequence of two UTF-8 characters: the "n" normal character followed by a "dot above" combining character. Sequences are not always correctly handled by all software tools, so, as far as possible, one should try to normalize texts and titles so that combining characters are avoided.

Re: Unable to upload files to the US server
At first I thought my filename included some special characters that weren't allowed. After a few error messages, I edited the filename to only include letters A-Z and a-z, but still it wouldn't let me upload. That's what's so weird.
