Hi All
First post so forgive me if I'm covering old ground...
I'm working on a project using Ravel's Pavane orchestral NOT piano arrangement and found this score on the site
https://imslp.org/wiki/Special:ReverseLookup/22826
I'm a bit confused by the different key signatures:
- The piece is in G Major
- The solo horns are in D Major (although score reads 'Horn in F 1/2)
- The bassoons are in A Major (although score reads 'Bb - Klarinette 1/2)
Can anyone shed light on if there is an error in the score or if this is some unusual practice for orchestral scores I'm not familiar with.
Many thanks
Steve

Er, how do you get 'bassoon' out of 'Klarinette'? Those are clarinets.

Re: Multiple key signatures in one piece
F horns sound a 5th lower in treble clef, so horns written in D major will sound in G major. (Older horn tradition dispenses with key signatures.) Bassoons sound in G as written; Bb clarinets, written in A major, sound in G major.
