Works for specific instrument && Female People

Post by Gamba »

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a good way to find works for a specific instrument by female composers. We have the Female_people category

https://imslp.org/wiki/Special:Category ... le_people/

which I can restrict to Composers.

There are also the instrumental categories, e.g. For_organ, which I can restrict in a variety of ways by their intersection with other categories, but I cannot program the search to find intersections with Female_people.

Am I missing a way to do this, beyond clicking each name in the female category, or reading the names of all the composers in the organ category?

I am always trying to expand my repertory, but because of the sad historical reality, a lot of music by female composers past and present has only recently become available and at high prices from publishers. If we could find a way to do this on IMSLP, I think it would help the people who can only afford to get their music here.

Thank you all.

That's because pieces are not people, and so will not be found in a category for people. The model of the category walker and IMSLP categorization in general is fundamentally flawed for many reasons. It will be replaced by a much more reasonable system which will become public at some point in the future (I'm still working on it) and which will allow you to make search queries like the one you want.
