I just noticed three right off the bat. First of all there's Anonimo. Perhaps the contributor was thinking of the famous Signor Anonimo, most prolific of all Italian school 18th century composers, perhaps his esteemed colleague Signora Anonima as well. Of course, there's his English cousin - Anonimo Inglese, a shy fellow who probably listed himself as Anonymous!

Maybe we should use "Anon." to cover the whole clan?

Hehe... if my sarcasm detector is correct, that post contained a huge load of sarcasm

I'm probably going to code some special page soon which should make moving and combining categories very easy (and this shouldn't be hard to write anyway). And maybe this can serve as a test (I'm busy as hell for the next week or so so I'm not going to be able to do it in the next few days or anything)

Not sarcasm, just a teeny bit of gentle irony. Besides, Signor Anonimo is surely a much more musical name than that of the black sheep of the family from Deutschland: Unbekannt.

After all, a single place for the works of unknown composership is actually a good idea and can even help in ascribing them to their actual authors once in a while. Do you think a special category is needed? Or, a regular category of "Anonymous" do the trick? "Traditional" is another one that's used a lot. I've also wondered how to handle multi-composer collections.

Oh, and I do seem to recall from a music history class of distant memory that "Sumer is a cumin in" is most likely by Signor Anonimo's cuzzin from across the channel, Anonimo Inglese. (There he goes again...)

I once made the category Albums (http://www.imslp.org/wiki/Category:Albums ) for a collection of different works or different composers, and then added the whole compilation as a work of the compilator (a certain Palashko).

If the compilator is Ominous, we could create the bundle in the anonymous category.

Btw, Feldmahler, I recently wanted to change categories, but they were all gone from the edit page!

The ideal thing (and the original intention) is to split them up and submit them to the respective composer pages, but I think it may be a good idea to allow the submission of collections to the collector's page in certain cases... I'm going to write support of this (and transcriptions) into the add file page, so that we have not only the scan/typeset/manuscript division, but also the original work/transcription/collection divide.

This is because the pages have become Smarter All the categories are now generated from the work page template ({{Description}}) values, with the sole exception of the composer name, which is generated from the page title itself! This makes changing the composer really easy, in the case that someone screwed up the composer category
