Note reading accuracy is consistently fairly good. Latest version of PhotoScore is meant to be better but haven't u...

At the extremely pointed end of the stick of international law, we have: http://mahfouzvsfreespeech.blogspot.com/ ...where if you have lots of money, you can sue anyone in any country wherever the law suits you. In this case a US citizen (Ehrenfield) sued by a Saudi citizen Mahfouz) under English la...

Similarly, if I were to open a publishing company, I can simply reprint public domain works and claim copyright for myself. Technically, I understand they can claim copyright in typesetting, layout, editorial...

WIPO does provide mediation and arbitration services for international intellectual property disputes. http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/arbitration/why-is-arb.html Interesting to note the intial shorter length of IP Protection under UCC and extensions under Berne convention and in Europe since. I read som...

I think you'd have to ask a lawyer that question.
WIPO (administering the Berne Convention) does provide mediation and arbitration services. So I guess the answer is theoretically yes.
http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/arbitration/why-is-arb.html
And theoretically, IMSLP could take UE to WIPO for that.

[...] One question though -- have international copyright procedures never been negotiated, even as a treaty of sorts between or among individual nations? -- Matt The usual problem - countries never agree on international conventions, or drag their feet for years even after agreeing. The Berne Conv...

Absolutely agree the technical measures asked for by UE are a waste of time. (sheetmusicdirect.com has IP filtering that can't figure out correctly where I am and I'm not even trying to hide.) BTW i read on another forum that people wanted to write to UE and complain. UE has a lot of email addresses...

The only sensible solution to all this mess is of course to make a uniform copyright law which is equal and is enforcable in every country around the world. Sadly, I doubt this will ever happen. I think a prominent case like this could result in uniform copyright law. All it would take is UE on the...

If there is any suggestion of hosting with Gutenberg, I would be unhappy. Gutenberg claims to *only* have to operate under US law. I think it is more sensible for an international site to respect international requirements while strictly complying with the law. Until Gutenberg attempts to describe i...
