Re: Uploading non-PD scores to a server where they are PD

To the OP: Why don't you find someone you trust in Canada and send him/her the physical scores (your own copies), have him/her scan it and upload it to IMSLP and then get your scores back? I'm fairly sure you can lend a score which you bought, from a legal point of view and then get it back. If the ...

help on copyright for educational purposes...

Hi, Long time member, almost new in posting. I'm very much in favor of 'free education' (as in freeware, or open source in software) and I was thinking of working some 'tutorials', or 'articles' on composing, harmony, etc. (I hold a PhD in composition, btw). So my question. I will be using examples....

PD works: OK NON PD works: Not ok. In all honesty, I've been playing music for my friends for 20 years now (I play the piano and sing in good company! :D). I have never thought that the Beatles will come knocking on my door for playing "Let it be" to my friends, without paying royalties! N...

Yup, Josef, same for me. I told them to keep them out of their database, as well as here in IMSLP, until I get around to putting a watermark. I plan on trying to publish them physically, so I need to put these watermarks around... Still, at least I found a way towards them, and they have been respon...

I contacted the hosting company (Godaddy), and was linked here: http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/legal_agreements/show_doc.asp?se=%2B&pageid=TRADMARK_COPY I have filled an official complaint form to Godaddy and I have hopes that Godaddy will remove my scores, or access to my scores. I would like to...

Thing is that this guy has scores from living composers (like myself, juji and Josef, to name a few from IMSLP), which is a dead clear violation of copyright laws.

I have contacted him, the website and GoDaddy and still waiting for a reply.

Josef, This is REALLY sad! :( I wonder how many more composers have their works up there. For some further information: Registrant: JM PO Box 219 Green Village, New Jersey 07935 United States Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. I've had these 5 scores, linked elsewhere (to sheetmusicplus or sheetmusicarchive.net) and I'm treating it as a highly offensive issue (since they are asking for subscription in order for anyone to download scores). It is copyright infrigment of the worst kind, which offends me as much as you: (here...

Remove scores by Nikolas Sideris, temporarily, please

I have been trying to find some way to contact someone in IMSLP, but I'm unable, so I had to post here. I'm Nikolas Sideris, the composer of 5 works, of which scores you hold in IMSLP. I HAD given permission for the scores to be posted in IMSLP, but for personal reasons, and for the moment, I'd like...

Hem. I'm not sure if Jonathan Irons is here to set any rules, etc, but probably to try and fix the relationship and build a ground on where the two parties can actually talk about things. I'm not sure he is here to debate anything. Unless you want their lawyers back with the 'correct wording' (which...

A straight question to you Jonathan, If the works which are public domain in Canada, remain on the server, but are somehow inaccesible from the countries, to which the works are not copyrighted, is this an ok comprimise? Cause I would really, hate to see all those public domain works, in Canada, be ...

Witold is right!

Composers want IMSLP back, and know what's going on. Every other ignorant **** in the world thinks that they are doing good if IMSLP is down.

What a world... :(

And UE is trying to say that they are protecting the composers?????? HUH?!?!? How, when, who?

Odin,

I'm sorry, but PM = private messaging. it is to remain private. I don't think that blackmailing that you will take a private correspondance out in public is a good move, nor fair. It's no wonder they broke communication. I would've done the absolutely same thing. It violates moral laws.
