Re: Can you license a typesetting?
Thanks. I actually read through those typesetting guidelines before posting here. I think the only faux-pas I've done is not to stem notes together on the vocal line, which is a conscious decision rather than a simple ignorance. I'd say this qualifies as an urtext edition. I live in Canada, and I'm ...

Can you license a typesetting?
Pray, please forgive me if this topic has been covered at length somewhere that I should have easily been able to find the answer. I did do some searching before deciding to post. I have spent a fair amount creating some fresh typsets of vocal music (in particular, opera arias so that I can have bea...

Re: Pyrrus & Demetrius vs. Pirro e Demetrio
You're awesome. maybe this could be noted on the two pages, as the vocal lines for the arias I looked at appeared to be intact, so they are great cross-references to one another.

Pyrrus & Demetrius vs. Pirro e Demetrio
I believe that this score for Pyrrhus and Demetrius http://imslp.org/wiki/Pyrrhus_and_Demetrius_%28Haym,_Nicola_Francesco%29 is just an English version of Alessandro Scarlatti's opera Pirro e Demetrio. The opera was performed in London in 1709, and Nicola Francesco Haym likly provided the singable E...

Re: Well, if *I* were writing the copyright laws...
There will always be new works created: we simply cannot contain our creative spirit. With the Internet and self-publishing options available, I think we have access to more new works now than we ever have. Has there been any measurable reduction in artistic output? I suppose that the argument could...

Excited to announce...
... that my transcription of the Vivaldi "Gloria" (RV 589) is finally ready for uploading. I'm sure it isn't perfect, so hopefully folks will contact me when they find errors and typos, but I'm very pleased with the engraving. After Christmas, I'll work on a transcription of the full score...

Update for Dvorak Op 22, violin 1
Hi folks, I received this request from the chat room: [13:04] <BCRandCo> I just downloaded the parts for Dvorak's Serenade for Strings Op. 22. I noticed some damage on p. 10 and 12 of the first violin part, making some notes illegible. I'd be happy to send you the pdf I have with the problems fixed,...

Re: Proof Readers & General Feedback
coulonnus "last meas (and many others): "fill" the rh chord with a D" - I'm going to leave this, as the full score doesn't have it, and I listened to my "Academy of Ancient Music" recording, and it doesn't seem to have it, either (although, it also doesn't have an orga...

Re: Proof Readers & General Feedback
I wrote a lengthly reply last night, but apparently I took so long typing it, I had to sign back in to post it, and I missed that detail. Thankfully tonight, I copied this text before I hit 'submit', or I would have woken up tomorrow to discover another lengthly message gone! Thank-you, everyone, fo...

Re: Proof Readers & General Feedback
Thank-you again for your help. I'm aware of the two different 'versions' out there, which is why I went through the trouble of transcribing it: I couldn't find a reproducable copy of the version I wanted to use. Interestingly, I also found a fairly significant (8-16 bars... I can't remember) differe...

Re: Proof Readers & General Feedback
That would be most excellent! I've uploaded a midi file here: http://www.islay.ca/Gloria.mid
Do you have separate files for each momvent? I might need to split things up. I started out that way, but for formating and such, I combined them all to one file.

Re: What is your favorite aria for a coloratura?
I realise I'm so totally bumping a really old thread, but since I happen to be a dramatic colortura.... Have you ever listened to "Popoli di Tessaglia" (concert aria by Mozart)? It has the distinction of having the highest demanded note in the classical repertoire (G6). It is absolutely wr...

Proof Readers & General Feedback
Hello! With the most excellent help and advice from folks in the IMSLP chat room (Have you visited? It's fun!), I have transcribed one of the IMSLP's documents, a vocal score of the Vivaldi "Gloria" (RV589) to create a clean imprint suitable for duplication. The document I used can be foun...
