Re: Announcement: Red Links Project
Thanks for your explanation. I'll keep in mind the new templates you mentioned. Just two more issues: . {{LinkPerson}} seems to be similar to {{LinkName}}. I saw your editions on {{LinkName}} page but I must say I didn't understand everything completely. Now I’m a little confused when which one shou...

Re: Announcement: Red Links Project
A necessary project, indeed, DB. If you think IMSLP has today about 40,000 composers/arrangers/librettists/translators categories, only creating categories in this first phase of the project will increase that number by 25%. Its second phase seems to be much more laborious as each workpage would nee...

ACMP Honors the Founder of IMSLP Public Domain Music Library
For those who will be in New York City on September 24, 2018, there will be an event hosted by Associated Chamber Music Playes (ACMP) to honor the founder and the project leader of IMSLP, Edward Guo, with the 2018 Helen Rice Award. The award is a recognition of the "deep impact on revolutionizi...

Re: Prokofiev legal threat
The Buxtehude page contains an arrangement by Prokofiev. Unfortunately, the means used to block it has also blocked all the other content on that page. Thanks for your explanation, Cypress. I agree blocking only the files arranged by Prokofiev would be better than disabling all the page, but probab...

Re: Prokofiev legal threat
Is this issue affecting only Prokofiev's works or also other editions published by G. Schirmer? Buxtehude's Prelude in D minor, BuxWV 140 page, for instance, is also disabled. (Hoping this situation ends soon without any more troubles to the site.)

Re: 500000 downloads per day?
Regarding that IMSLP has almost 330,000 scores, 500,000 is a huge number, indeed. I can't figure out if this number really reflects actual musicians downloading scores around the world. Any possibility of bots from music libraries or servers like IA downloading the entire site? Anyway, just for curi...

Re: Baroque pieces transcribed for piano?
Through the Category Walker you can look for all baroque works with at least one score arranged for piano here on IMSLP. Until the moment, there are 212 works, see here.

Probably the part of Altus 2 (most likely) is no more extant or, at least, has not been found until now. You can see the RISM description here.

Re: IMSLP panel at IMS/IAML conference in NYC, June 23, 2015
I quick report also about the copyright panel this Thursday (9am-12:30pm): Copyright in a changing digital landscape . In the first part of the session, it was presented topics about the past, present and the future regarding copyright issues. Mr. Miller talked about the musical performance rights i...

Re: 30 day tagging Marathon in July 2015!
As our marathon in approaching, I'd like to thank Sallen for his idea and effort to writing people to this event. I do believe that together we can produce more than working independently. My first thought about the tagging marathon was to think that to tag 10 works for day it's not so much, but is ...

Re: how do I add a composer to a category?
Ravpapa, sorry for delay. You have created the category correctly. As pointed by Schissel here , I also don't see reasons for creating a category based on a religion or belief. The nationality category is only we have for sorting people. Thanks for your contribution, but this category will be delete...

Re: 30 day tagging Marathon!
Count me in! Very good idea and it can improve our community effort to an objective. It's worth to remember that that less than 3% of untagged works we have today is already a great achievement. Remember that every big library in the world has a kind of storage room with fragments, miscellaneous and...

Re: IMSLP31559-PMLP71832-Buonamente_Sonate_et_Canzoni
According to RISM, the copy kept by y PL-WRu are incomplete (Violin II part is missing), so the library will not be able to help you. Considering this, the scanning uploaded by Boccaccio is complete. But RISM lists also that complete copies are in D-Mbs and GB-OB. Apparently, both of them do not pro...

Re: Merulo canzoni
In terms of tagging, no doubts that it needs to be assigned only as "org". But regarding the practice of instrumental renaissance music, it can be played by viols, flutes, recorders, etc, or even voices. The paradigm of composition is the vocal repertoire, the ''media'' of the interpretati...
