Recommendations for impressionistic etc. String quartets
Hello. Since I love the orchestral sound more, I'm not so much aquainted with string quartets. So, I'd appreciate it if you could recommend any good and essential ones (except the Ravel and the Debussy ones) in the impressionistic style or with more extended harmony (but not atonal). Music that its ...

Piano piece identification?
Hello. I was wondering if anyone could identify this piece on the cover please? http://images4.static-bluray.com/movies/covers/59370_front.jpg The most prominent music piece in the movie is Chopin's Prelude in E minor, but it certainly isn't it. Other classical pieces that are featured in the movie ...

Help identifying trumpet concerto
Hello.
I have a book at school with an accompanying cd.
It says in the book to listen to 3rd movement of J. Haydn's Trumpet Concerto but the corresponding track isn't that. And I don't know what trumpet concerto is this. (maybe a concertino?)
Can anyone identify it please?

Books on melodic intervals?
Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help me in my query. I'm searching for musicological books (or theses/dissertations) which discuss melodic intervals . I mean eg. about the perfect fifth: what are its qualities in melody? What does it show? How is it used? Examples of famous melodies that use ...

Re: Books on Composers' style?
Thank you very much for the recommendations. I saw some preview of the books you mentioned; the Bela Bartok one seems along the lines I was interested in. (although is focusing on harmony from what I've understood?) Some others (like the Brahms) are analysing specific works which isn't what I had in...
