British 19th c. publishers' plate numbers
While browsing the British Library research resources, I came across a recent (1923) publication by David McLachlan with a comprehensive listing of plate numbers of British publishers 1850-1900. The abstract reads: "Publisher’s plate numbers are a crucial element in dating 18th and 19th century...

Vocal arrangements
Hi. When uploading a score using the "modern skin", the predefined categories for vocal works come up as 2 Voices, Mixed Chorus etc. If I want to give more details of the voices (eg SSA, SATB), should I amend the auto-populated fields, or should I add this to 'comments' at the foot of the ...

Re: Part-songs
If I were to put "4 voices", should I then add (SATB) to specify which voices they were - ie "4 voices (SATB)", or "4 voices (SSAA)" according to the specification.

Part-songs
Looking at the Score Submission Guide, I am not clear on how the instrumentation details should be completed for 'part-songs', ie vocal trios, quartets, etc. with or without piano, that were really designed to be sung by a group of individual voices but can actually be sung by a choir. The logical w...

Re: Nkoda.com Score and Parts Library
I have recently subscribed to this, as it has the potential to be a 'game-changer' in the music business. The rules are very strict, and security very tight. It will only work with the latest OSs on any platform, and you will be blocked if you attempt to do a screen print. It is intended to be used ...

Feature request - Instrumentation field on 'Add work'
I notice that if I add a new work, I have to fill in the 'Instrumentation' field manually (using the 'Modern Skin'). If I then add a scan to a work that is an arrangement or transcription, there is a template showing available instrumentation options. Is there any way that template could be availabl...

Potiron, Op.58 (Rhené-Baton, Emmanuel)
When I try to access the two files for this work, I get the message "Error - This file has been queued for inclusion on the IMSLP-EU server, but unfortunately is not available yet. Please retry in 1 day." - even though they were apparently uploaded to IMSLP in 2009 and 2010!

Re: Best way to add missing pages to score ("Ballo" IMSLP33966)?
I had the same problem with the version of Donizetti's 'Lucia di Lammermoor' that was already here - it had several missing pages. I was using it to rehearse a production, and the MD had found the missing pages and inserted them into a version that the cast were doing, so I added the missing pages t...

Re: Extension of copyright on cowritten works in EC
The third point seems to me to cover a piano reduction quite nicely. Without further work I think that would only exempt a pre-existing a paper copy/adaptation. I've no idea of the situation of an electronic version in cyberspace. The whole situation is absurd. The most extreme example I can think ...

Extension of copyright on cowritten works in EC
On 1st November 2013 the copyright was extended in the EC on performances - see: http://www.ipo.gov.uk/directive201177eu.pdf . However, as a devastating footnote, the copyright on co-written works was also extended from 50 to 70 years: 5 Co-written works The term of copyright in the music and the ly...

Re: Uploading files direct from MediaFire
Thanks for that - I will try your suggestion. In my experience MediaFire is perfectly safe - I have used it for years. It is a useful place to rapidly store files and then send links to others, and as such is no alternative to IMSLP which indexes and catalogues the scores properly.

Uploading files direct from MediaFire
I have some new scans which I have uploaded from a different computer to my MediaFire account. I was hoping to transfer them directly to IMSLP using the pseudURL facility, but - try as I might - IMSLP does not seem to accept the pasted in URL that MediaFire supplies. Can anyone advise me on how to d...
