Re: Category for Evening Services
Dear Richard: We follow the MLA rules for category tagging. Unfortuntately, "evensong" is not one of their allowed genres, nor is its counterpart, matins. MLA tagging is by title, which is why "Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis" gets 2 tags - one for magnificats, and one for canticles...

Re: Chamber music for clarinet piano and voice
Indeed, the song is from that opera. And the comment is correct that Scandinavia at that time was musically copying trends, mostly in Germany, I think, and Crusell studied there for a while.

Is IMSLP down for anyone else?

Re: Renaming of Dragonetti concertos to "solos with orchestra"
OK, looking at Concerto no.1 briefly, I notice a couple of things -- first, the "Famous Concerto" seems to have come from Doblinger's 1958 edition, and I would think the title is Doblinger's -- I doubt that any composer would be egotistical enough to name a first edition "A Famous Con...

Re: Renaming of Dragonetti concertos to "solos with orchestra"
For a start, here are some questions: 1) are the manuscript sources that use the work "Solo" autograph or holograph sources? 2) are the printed sources first editions that would have been done under Dragonetti's supervision or approval? 3) Would an Opus no.1 not be a Concerto no.1, if it w...

Re: Rossini Péchés de vieillesse albums misidentified
This has been on my list of pages to try to clean up, the problem being that my university does not have volumes of the original so I can't check anything, and I haven't had time to track down indexes of the original volumes. I will try to look into this further in the next few days. It would help, ...

Re: Request to add in Sub Musical Genres (or styles) in Time Period
We are going to need some definitions here, so ordinary mortals can see what some of these things mean. I've been involved in professional music for 40 years, and "Anachro- [style]" was a new one to me. Becky

W.H. Reed, Introduction and Rondo Caprice
William Henry Reed wrote an ''Introduction and Rondo Caprice'' for clarinet and piano. It is very obscure, but if anyone has it, I would really like to see it uploaded.
