Re: Clementi, Symphony no. 2

Good to know it's in the public domain! Then I'll have no qualms downloading it.. I remember having a physical copy of it a couple years ago but I lost it, and now that I'm working much more than what I'm used to (as I'm supposed to write a market analyis around these Koh Samui property prices after...

Re: Finnish Library Access!

I guess that your best bet would be to try to contact people in Helsinki or to book a ticket there for now... The original poster isn't there anymore, and other Finns may not see the thread.

Re: Transposing a gender-swapped Pirates of Penzance

Too bad, does anyone know how to contact him? I've read your initial thread and the story of that project, and it could be quite a fascinating thing to organise, play and watch.

Re: Make categorization a two-step process (user-generated input checked by the Tagging team)

It could be quite an useful function to have, why not! It'll slow down the categorization process, but it'll limit duplicates, incorrect tags and all of the fun things that come with user-produced content.

Re: Ravel stuff off?

Okay, great! Because I've ran into music, images, 3d models etc online that were available for personal, but not for commercial use; I wanted to make sure before I do anything that could give me legal trouble.

Re: API account for developing an Android application.

So, has this project reached its goals since 2013? An Android app would be a handy thing to have!

Re: Ravel stuff off?

Speaking of its use, does the fact that it's in the public domain allow one to use it in a commercial project (movie, game etc) or only in private media? What about public, non-commercial uses like an exposition at university?

Oh, so there's another step to become a "full" member? I'll then contribute to the project in early November, as I get paid.

Great to know, I heard about that last year and was worried about what's already in the public domain. These US standards truly are fun for everyone...

Re: Should "Folksongs" always imply "Songs"?

That's an interesting point to raise, it's true that many pieces of folk music aren't necessarily songs (although they often end up with at least 8 recorded apocryphal lyrics sets!), for example, the short guitar track "Цыганочка" (Little Gipsy girl) that's popular in Russia.

Re: Public domain piano pieces re published

Thanks for the explanation! I'm still new to music making and was quite confused by copyright laws, this forum helps me a lot... And it means I'll soon be able to publish my own music!
