Re: PD results for the USA

That would only return pages with no TB scores on them at all, as it removes all pages that contain the undesired string.

I'm with Lyle (but didn't want to say anything earlier in case I drew attention to my weirdness)

Re: Life time data

It may be confusing, but as it is standard practice in all major reference works I think we should need a very good reason to change.

Re: IMSLP-EU

If I might add my £0.02 worth, having an IMSLP in Canada might help to give some leverage to lobbyists campaigning to keep Canadian copyright laws the same. Though I doubt it would have much an impact in the face of US pressure, it is still a little defeatist to give up before we've even started.

Re: help identifying Haydn minuet

Managed to find the source thanks to Bryant and Chapman's Melodic index to Haydn’s instrumental music . It is from the Menuetto und Trio Hob. IX:24 for two violins and bass. First (I believe only) publication in Otto Erich Deutsch (ed.) Contredanse und Zingarese für Klavier zu zwei Händen (Wien:Stra...

Re: Looking for mass-suggestions (SATB+strings&organ)

If you are looking for a Capella works Rheiberger's Mass in Eb is well worth doing, available here: http://www1.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Mas ... einberger)
Vaughan Williams Mass is also interesting, but not public-domain: http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Mas ... or/3162321

Re: Finest Melodies

The main theme from Beethoven's Ode to Joy is incredible for its simplicity; although composed entirely of single steps it hos shape and, more importantly, movement to carry it.

Re: help identifying Haydn minuet

Thanks for your help so far. I have looked through most of the Haydn sonatas without luck. IMSLP does list the key for the sonatas in the navigation box that appears at the bottom of each individual sonata, just not on the main Haydn page (where I agree it would be more helpful) There were two turns...

help identifying Haydn minuet

I am trying to track down the source of this Haydn minuet. No information was given in the book I found it (not even the composer's first name so it could be by Joseph or Michael). I don't know if it is originally a keyboard piece or a duet. This is the entire piece as I have it. http://davidsurtees...

Re: Bassoon Pieces Suggestion?

If you have another bassoonist, Stravinsky wrote an untitled piece for 2 bassosns. Its early, so might be PD in the USA, although I've no idea if or when it was published. Its also extremely short - if my memory form the one time I've heard it serves me right less than a minute long.
