This is simply a account of a pianists journey through various scores...Very helpful in discovering names (espically contemporary) of composers I wouldn't know how or why to look up otherwise...

Yeah, except since the school has no finale, I'd only see/edit the sound waves/files themselves. So I'd be inputting the music from a keyboard like one inputs dialouge in a microphone, and then hopefully I'll be able to edit everything I record in whatever I recorded it into (I think the mac labs al...

It's cheaper...but I bet you'll notice...
Can anyone here tell the difference between live recorde orcestrated music and music orcestraded from an audio editing software like ProTools? I know I can get away with using Public Licensed classical music as long as I can come up with my own recording (like for my Dvorak fantasias), but since the...

Beethoven on the Richter scale?
I love Beethoven only when his music is played with the right balance of extreme speeds and power, which is hard for me to find (at the libraries at least) many performers figuring out. His 8th sonata really gets on my nerves for example! Everybody does the first them too fast and the second theme w...

Why can't Sibelius and XSI be bargained together?
Sorry, I just didn't know where else to rant this about...I mean no one at CGTalk would understand, though neither would the music forums like ours, but what would be wrong with getting a discount for Sibelius if you were already using XSI , and vice-versa? Avid's the only company I know of that off...

Best composition of a movie scene?
Does anyone here have a favorite 'movie moment' because of the composition used for that part? I've aloways thought the Wallace & Gromit shorts had the best soundtrack for any animated short, but the chase scene is always my favorite part - I've always wanted to play it on piano or even conduct ...

can music manipulate visual narratives?
I've been glossing over the game notoruous to shoot-um-up fans worldwide called Ikaruga. I've been writing up a review for it for a while now but I don't have time for it anyway and you probably won't be intrested in it except for this one thing: The soundtrack for each level and for the boss sequen...

The Copyright countodown calendar?
Has anyone yet made a site that lists composers and their compositions-in order of when their music will enter public domain, with a countdown timer even?

Intro for a halfhearted musician...
Hello, I'd like to start out by stating that I wouldn't be considered a musician by any sub-elitist standards. I've never finished theory, ear trainint, and couldn't afford an instrument much lest tutoring for one! I'm actually studying for a BA in Animation in a commercial art school that also teac...
