College Help

Post by Crystalviolin »

Hi, I'm thirteen, and I'm just wondering-does anyone have any tips on the live auditions at college? Particularly Juilliard? Anyone? :?:

Wow, young. Well, all I can say whether you get in or not, work hard. No matter how good you are now (and you sound good), keep working hard.

One thing I'm told is that, two weeks before you performance/audition, take a whole week of from touching you instrument, then in the last week practice your head off.

Also, try to relax as much as you can in the hour before your performance. That is NOT the time to try to better something. If you know your stuff, just spend that hour before the audition relaxing, so when you get there you're ready to do your best without being too stressed out.

G'luck!

There are drugs that can help with nerves. I personally do not approve of them.

well there's a homeopathic medicinal stuff called Bach spray that's harmless because it's really light and it's all natural. I rarely use it, though. ...the other drugs are just awful (i've known people who've hallucinated from them)
I hope you do well in your audition!

@ pianogirl:

That's because homeopathy is complete charlatanism, and the only possible benefit is from the placebo effect – provided you don't know that the treatment is a fraud!

BTW, as you're replying to a thread that's two years old, I think it's fairly safe to say the original poster has probably had her/his audition by now ;-)
