Request to add in Sub Musical Genres (or styles) in Time Period
Re: Request to add in Sub Musical Genres (or styles) in Time Period
Yes that is what we will have to keep talking about and find for the 20th/21st centuries if those seperate periods will even work. We may have to start earlier than the 21st century and call it something else if that really doesn't work. I do think however, we should still start at ca.1900 (20th century onward) for those specific period(s).

Can anyone else add more sub-styles to the list? I have been busy with some other things at the moment to contribute any right now.

I believe the term is "rococo" rather than "rococco".
Also, there seems to be an admixture of adjectives and nouns in the various labels.
"...istic" versus "...ism"? Perhaps tradition dictates the dichotomy, or perhaps it is possible to further refine the labels?

Re: Request to add in Sub Musical Genres (or styles) in Time Period
Ok I updated some of the periods and added in more sub-genres, especially the Ancient and Medieval styles, although many in the Medieval list I added are subject to debate and that most of those are already catagory tags being used on IMSLP. But according to many sites like Wikipedia and some Encyclopedia sites, these are what came up as Genres almost so we might have to redefine or extend our mean of genres vs. tags on IMSLP.
@Jossuk, I have changed the grammar for some of the terms to "istic" which makes more sense I think. I am not great at remembering English rules although I am a fluent speaker

Re: Request to add in Sub Musical Genres (or styles) in Time Period
Pseudo-Medieval = Neo-Medieval - a type of Historicism in other words. "Neo" doesn't really fit anymore with Porkofiev and Stravinsky, with P's Classical Symphony approaching 100 years old. Historicism is pretty useful as it can be applied to music from a number of periods which deliberately refer back to earlier music. Bizet's Symphony in C major is another example, as is Fauré's Maques et bergamasques.
Re: Request to add in Sub Musical Genres (or styles) in Time Period
Alright I removed Neo-Medieval, I am fine with the Historicism list too covering the harkening back genres
How about the Medieval list I started, does this look alright?

Re: Request to add in Sub Musical Genres (or styles) in Time Period
I admit to some genuine curiosity as to how the Bizet symphony can be heard as referring to previous musical events, other than its being a symphony. Full disclosure: I have conducted the work, and have always considered it to be a remarkable achievement for the then 17-year old composer.
