Problem on Schubert's D.96

Post by Choralia »

An Italian user contacted me, and noticed that the page:

http://imslp.org/wiki/Quartet_for_Flute ... rt,_Franz)

redirects to:

http://imslp.org/wiki/Notturno_for_Flut ... _Thomas%29

Is this intentional?

Yes, D.96 is Schubert's arrangement of Matiegka's Notturno, and so appears in the "Arrangements and Transcriptions" section of Matiegka's work page for the Notturno.

If I remember the story correctly, Schubert did this arrangement adding the cello part so that his father could play in the group. There is one extra movement that he composed himself, but the other movements are all straight arrangements.

Thank you very much both for the info. I'll inform the user (who probably contacted me because he is not familiar with the English language).
