It's a very good news that Vatican Library, through digitalization work of Heidelberg University Library, is putting online some great scores from its archives. I'm sorry if it's reopening an old treat about this issue that I don't know, but I wonder it the PD images with watermarks provided by HUL are really copyrightable as they are claiming. Their watermarks aren't trademarks or logos, only text. I've tried a lot of procedures to remove it with no satisfactory success.
Here is an example: http://digi.vatlib.it/diglitData/image/ ... _0003v.jpg

The images in the corners are certainly not a good idea to upload, but it should be easy to cover up with some sort of white electronic paint.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, the images at the bottom are easily removable.

I wonder if this is going to be the next chapter of viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7436 ?
