Can someone explain to me why this recording is PD?
On the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody (http://imslp.org/wiki/Hungarian_Rhapsod ... MSLP301753) page, the first recording by Paderewski is public domain. How is this so? I thought that in the US, copyright on sound recordings haven't expired yet, because it wasn't accounted for when the government decided to expire copyright of other works published before 1923.

copyright on sound recordings indeed I think expires at earliest in the US in 2020 or so, and can be linked to but not uploaded unless permission is given by the copyright-holder... so far as I've been given to understand, anyway...
