Baroque flute repertoire suggestions

Post by timberflute »

I'm learning the Baroque flute and I'd say that I'm at an early intermediate level. I'm looking for suggestions for repertoire preferably from the IMSLP collection, but other sources are welcome. Also prefer music for solo flute + bc.

I'd love to hear from other traverso players.

Start with Hotteterre, Barre, Loeillet.

Then move on to Leclair -- arguably the best of the 18th century flute repertoire. Better than Bach. There are eight Leclair flute sonatas, scattered about his violin sonata volumes: books I, II and IV. Search them out.

Perhaps they could visit your forum, Philidor, for more suggestions?

Provided they agree with everything you say?!
