Files not downloading! Help needed!

Many of the newest files have not been downloading.
If you click on one of the pieces you get this link (or similar)
http://imslp.info/files/imglnks/usimg/6 ... es_fls.pdf
This will not download!

If you change the first part of the same file to:
http://imslp.org/imglnks/usimg/6/6e/IMS ... es_fls.pdf
This WILL download!

Not all files are going to the prefex
http://imslp.org/imglnks/

I thought this would help someone sort this out. Thank you.

I haven't been able to download any files today either. There's just a 20-second pause before the message "This page cannot be displayed".

Maybe it's because both of you are in Europe? That would seem to fit with other of the problems the site has recently been experiencing. Located on the other side of the Atlantic, I haven't noticed any difference in the behavior of the site.

The way I manage to download today is to click the file I want (which will not download) and then change the beginning of the address.
I change the first part of the address
.info/files
to
.org
For example:
http://imslp.info/files/imglnks/usimg/b/be/IMSLP09145-Liszt_-_S.412_-_Reminiscences_des_Huguenots__Meyerbeer_.pdf
to
http://imslp.org/imglnks/usimg/b/be/IMSLP09145-Liszt_-_S.412_-_Reminiscences_des_Huguenots__Meyerbeer_.pdf

It works for me (but a pain as it takes a few seconds longer).

Yes, that is still the case. Unfortunately Generoso's solution wouldn't work on the file I tried, because the address was in a different format (http://imslp.org/wiki/Special:ImagefromIndex/19151)

Yes, Still the case here. It seems the newest files open no problem but the ones that have been on the site even 3 or 4 days have problems (even the ones I uploaded myself). Although I can get around it by the solution I mentioned above.

edit: The way the link you just sent here automatically turns into:

which does not work here unless I change the beginning of the address.

It will work for me if you just change the .info/files to .org (including the dot . No spaces)

Thanks, but the file names don't automatically turn into anything, and stay in the form of:

http://imslp.org/wiki/Special:ImagefromIndex/47939

until I get the error message (which is stil happening now, unfortunately)

Any progress with this yet? I can't download a thing, and the filenames aren't in the form described by Generoso so I can't attempt that fix.

It seems there is a problem in Europe to resolve the domain name imslp.info into the associated IP address (198.137.202.16). I cannot "ping" the imslp.info server from Italy, while I can ping it from the U.S. server where these forums are hosted.

There is a trick to force your browser to reach the correct IP address bypassing public DNSs. You need to add this line to your hosts file:

198.137.202.16 imslp.info

Under Windows the hosts file is located under the Windows/System32/drivers/etc folder. In order to edit it, you have to open notepad as an administrator (right-click the notepad icon and the select "open as administrator"). I tried this trick here from Italy, and it worked.

I don't know how the same trick can be applied on other systems, but it should be quite similar.

You're welcome. Just remember to remove that line (or comment it out using a # character at the beginning) when things go back to a normal status, otherwise, if in the future imslp.info is moved to another IP address, your browser will stick to the old address, and it will be very difficult to understand the reason!

This is exceedingly strange. Choralia, can you do a traceroute on the DNS server?

highlights some warnings about the DNS status of imslp.info. I'll be away in a very remote area today with no internet access, so I'll not be able to investigate further. Maybe others can help. I'll be back in the evening CET.
