If you don't mind Hindemith here is the Suite 1922, Op.26: http://imslp.org/wiki/1922,_Op.26_(Hindemith,_Paul)

Hi, I'm think more of 'popular music', i.e. jazz and dance music. Not 'classical', and yes, I do know Hindemith's 1922 piano suite.

One of the chief problems we run into with popular music from this era has to do with multiple authors and the fact that relatively few contributors bother to either mention secondary authors at all or don't look up the dates - which can at times be a real challenge. Gershwin is a fine example of the problem. He died in 1937 so anything solely by him is certainly free in Canada and even the EU. The problem is that there is a surprisingly small number even of purely instrumental works that are his work alone. The situation only gets worse with the music produced for the Broadway shows. It's easy to forget that copyright terms in most of the world revolve around the death of the last surviving contributor. George Gershwin died well over 70 years ago but his brother Ira - who wrote the lyrics for many songs - lived until 1983.

There are 714 results for a search of "It is not PD in Canada, the EU or elsewhere", corresponding to
before-1923 scores. Refine the search with "piano", "dances" etc.

Sorry, these results are the after-1923 scores! For PD-worldwide scores you should exclude this string with a minus sign. But add the search term "early 20th century style" or "modern".

And adding "non pd eu" will concentrate the results on the period you're looking for.
