Puccini - Turandot

Post by silky »

Hi,

Is anyone able to explain why the score for this opera is blocked when I try to view it?

I am interested in looking at the orchestration for Nessun dorma. Is anyone able to advise me please?

Many thanks and all good wishes.

The reason is contingent on two considerations:

1. Turandot was completed by another composer whose copyright still pertains to the work in the United States and the European Union.
2. IMSLP respects both the US and EU copyright terms, and in this case both of them rule out allowing the work to be generally available to the world.

Cheers, Philip

If one sliced off the end of the piece, after the death of Liu, leaving only echt-Puccini (including Nessun dorma), would the remaining portion be unblockable anywhere?

Doubtful. Probably the only thing that would be free is Puccini's autograph manuscript, pre-Alfano.
