Carl Loewe - 'Zigeuner-Sonate'

Post by marcus »

Some Scores seem very hard to get (well, who hasn't encountered that yet!?):

For several years I'm searching for Carl Loewe's Piano Sonata (A minor) op. 107b 'Zigeuner-Sonate'
I was willing to buy it - but I can't find it anywhere. Not even in a library. Has anybody out there an idea where I could find it?

You could do a search in worldcat http://www.worldcat.org/advancedsearch
or in the kvk http://www.ubka.uni-karlsruhe.de/kvk.html
and would find copies in Edinburgh, the British Library and in the Musikhochschule in Wien
And Staatsbibliothek in Berlin has recently started to offer access to its card-catolog (image-scans only):
http://staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/musik ... aloge.html
I had a quick look, and they have 5 copies!, all of them still available.

The Peters edition (1855) you might even take to a copier yourself if its still in decent shape
(cutoff-date for do-it-yourself copying is 1850)

Thank you very much! I have to admit that I've never searched outside of Germany. It seems that the Staatsbibliothek is the right place - the only thing I have to find out is, whether there's the possibility of an interlibrary loan or not (since I live in Southern Germany). I mean, a copy of it would do. Well, I'll try.

Unfortunately, interlibrary loan only would be possible for works you could take out in Berlin as well, the edition would have to be newer than 1950. But they offer 300 dpi color scans of older works, its only much more expensive than do-it-yourself copying, and was just increased substantially over the previous fees - see here:
http://staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/filea ... tliste.pdf

(About 30 euro for the 39 pages, vs 2.36 if you copy it yourself)

This was was scanned by Duncan and uploaded to Pianophilia many years ago.

I have therefore attempted my first ever IMSLP upload.
