Whould this pieces be suiteble, regarding copyright issues, for "publishing" at IMSLP:

Knut Håkanson (pron: Houkanson) (1887-1929):

Swedish Suite N:o 2 for orchestra (1925)
Published copy of Manuscript by Edition Suecia, No Date (but approx. 1937).
"Requiem" for mixed chorus a c. (1927) (one movement)
Swedish Chorus Society´s Music Publishing Company 1942

Best regards

DALTORPS (Brian Cohn).

Technically yes, but not viewable for a while.

These will probably be OK, but I can't say for sure unless I actually look at the notice (if present) and double-check the NIE list (no Swedish music publishers filed for NIEs as I recall). The Edition Suecia score was evidently published without a valid copyright notice for the USA (this is common for them), and is likely PD worldwide. Does the Requiem have an actual copyright notice with a 1942 date? As the composer died in 1929, the works (being published) are free in both Canada and in the EU.

To Carolus.

1.: How do I get hold of the NIE-list?
2.: The (light) copy of the Suite was made in 1937 from the handwritten manuscript.
3.: Yes, there is a actual copyright notice on the´"Requiem" from 1942.

Best regards

Hi,

1. You can download the NIE lists (Issued 1996 through 1998) from the website of the US Copyright Office. They are not easy to read, as they mention only claimants and titles.
2. The Requiem with the 1942 claim is a problem. It might be under copyright in the USA and thus subject to the notorious [TB] tag.
