Just thought I'd post a heads-up that pieces by Glen Gould probably aren't PD. http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Gould%2C_Glenn

Indeed, haha. But while I strongly doubt his heir will actually sue (he's not known mainly as a composer anyway), its still an violation of the copyright law so I removed it :P

I'm considering contacting the Gould estate to see about obtaining permission. Should I?

If you can, by all means! If this goes through it will set a beautiful example! :)

Aye, I thought it looked funny with only one 'n'... ;-) I did catch that before I sent the message.

Status update: no response. I'll wait a couple more days, then I'll think about actually mailing a letter (instead of an email).

That's a nice idea... nothing tried, nothing gained ;)

True 'nuff.

I received a reply this morning:
Dear Mr. Lehr,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Schott Music is the music publisher of Glenn Gould's compositions. I suggest you contact them with your request. http://www.schott-music.com/shop/contact/

Sincerely,

Malcolm Lester
Literry Advisor to the Glenn Gould Estate
I will contact Schott (I'll wait a little bit to see if you want to object), but I am doubtful of a positive response (and, in fact, if we get the baleful eye of a music publisher on us, you might be quite busy fielding copyright concerns).

What you said is quite true... I do strongly doubt any music publisher would freely give rights to IMSLP for anything... oh well :) At least we tried hehe :)
