Violinist wants to learn piano

Hi,
I'm a violinist (of about 9 years, although most don't count since I'm ex-suzuki, but that's an argument for another day) doing my grade 7 and 8 AMEB next year, although I'm not quite sure as to what that translates to in the rest of the world. I've been wanting to learn piano for a while now, but I don't really have time to be taught formally as I am going into year 11 next year and stating my VCE.
Could anyone recommend a lesson book I could use to teach myself at home? My sight reading for treble clef is decent, but I'm pretty slow for bass. I think if I went straight for a beginner book I'd skip though alot of the theory and simple excercises, while on the other hand if I go for a more advanced book I'd miss some important basic piano techniques.
Or is it just worth waiting two more years until I can get a teacher?

Thanks for your help!
