Richard Wagner's Siegfried Idyll performed by the NBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Arturo Toscanini
Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?
Actually, right at this precise moment I am listening to Ernő Dohnányi's first Piano Quintet.
It is a marvellous, sadly underperformed work. There is a fantastic recording of it on YouTube.
I have had a late obsession with piano quintets, I must admit.
At the moment I would say the greatest three piano quintets ever written are those of Johannes Brahms, César Franck, and Dohnányi's No. 1.
Give them a listen.

Verdi: Il Trovatore, Act III. Live from the MET over Sirius Internet stream. Not my favorite Verdi, but this is a good performance so far. Looking forward to season premier of Don Carlos on Monday.

Steve Reich Music for 18 Musicians with a glass of bourbon. A very nice way to spend an hour!
Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?
Medtner's Piano Quintet. Again, a great work from this not very well known composer! The quintet really has an extraordinary beauty, with all it's powerful, spiritual materials. The serenity can hardly be found in contemporary works. A very good listening, even if you are already familiar with Medtner's solo piano works or concertos.

Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 58. Bruch favored his later two violin concertos over his famous first.

Copland: Appalachian Spring Suite (13-instrument version). Streamed playback-on-demand from BBC Radio 3, City of London Sinfonia, Michael Collins cond. Earlier in the concert was Barber's Knoxville Summer of 1915, another gloriously nostalgic and extremely American-sounding work.

Music from the Ballet Cinderella by Prokofiev, Neeme Jarvi and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. It don't get better than that, folks.

Louis Spohr's Symphony No. 6, "Historical". Very clever idea by Spohr to write a symphony where each different movement pertains to a musical style of certain era up to 1840.
