Mozart: The Magic Flute, Overture (recapitulation section). Headed into the full opera in a moment. MET opera, James Conlon conducting, Jan 1977. SIRIUS MET channel, streaming internet feed. The Magic Flute was the first complete opera I ever performed in (2nd violin) and it has had a special place in my affections since then, more than 30 years ago (see the thread on top 10 operas).

Alistair Hulett, who died yesterday. A love song to his wife Fatima:
Militant Red
"There's nothing more breath-takingly beautiful in this world than a communist woman in a summer frock with a red flag in one hand and a brick in the other."

Carl Maria von Weber- Clarinet Quintet in B-flat major: I. Allegro
Richard Stoltzman, clarinet with the Tokyo String Quartet
I think we can all agree that Richard Stoltzman overdoes vibrato on the clarinet.

Modest Mussorgsky- Festive March from Mlada
Berlin Philharmonic under Claudio Abbado
The french horn solo towards the beginning is jaw dropping.
edited later: could be a trombone
Can anybody clarify?

I was at this concert on December 9, as the church is located directly across the street from my university.

Krebs - Prelude on Wachet auf - Todd Wilson with Neil Mueller, trumpet

More of the organ is visible in this one, and when the camera pans over the crowd I can see myself!
