Chausson Op.2

Post by KGill »

OK, Chausson appears to have two works labeled as Op.2: http://imslp.org/wiki/Jeanne_d%E2%80%99 ... n,_Ernest) and http://imslp.org/wiki/7_M%C3%A9lodies,_ ... n,_Ernest). Does a Chausson expert/enthusiast know if, say, Jeanne d'Arc was misprinted as Op.2, or something? (I came across this because I'm occasionally adding links to composer composition lists, so it would be nice to know whether to put it as an alternative Op.2 or as a work without opus.) Thanks if anyone knows!

I don't know if this is a definitive answer, but the worklist in Grove Online shows the Mélodies as Op.2, and Jeanne d'Arc without any opus number.

OK, thanks- although unless I was hallucinating or something, the score of Jeanne clearly says 'Op.2' on the first page, but I'll just put it in Works Without Opus Number.
