Hi there,

The Free Music Archive (http://freemusicarchive.org/) will soon be hosting a contest asking musicians everywhere to record their own versions of public domain songs, and then liscence the new recordings for the public domain.

Before we can start the contest, we need to narrow down the incredible wealth of material online to 3-5 interesting songs for musicians to chose from. We're looking for works with lovely melodies, interesting lyrics, and/or something special that will inspire folks creatively.

Do any other interseting public domain songs come to mind? Any hidden gems you've unearthed from the IMSLP? Tell us all about them here in the forum, and we might use your picks in this month's contest!

Thanks,
Andrea [andrea (at) freemusicarchive (dot) org]

How the hell could Chopin, especially a waltz or nocturne, be a "hidden gem"?

Would you call Enrique Granados a hidden gem ? I know his Goyescas and Danzas espaƱolas are well-known. But there are some obscure works.

About his Cuentos della Juventud ? I had a hard time to find these in CD.
