Yeah yeah, I'm aware of all the changes that are being discussed about the whole categorisation system, but I have a feeling this is going to take quite a while..
I just thought it'd be better to create the category now, and when the changes are applied, that genre could change along with the others.

That's alright - he said he wanted to release it under a CC BY, so that's taken care of

Thumb linking to Preview?
I was thinking, maybe it would be a better idea to have the "thumb" image of each work to link to its "preview" image (where available). It would be a lot more user-friendly if all they did was click on the thumb image and got linked to the preview. Besides, no one (not any of th...

New genre needed - Electronic Music
Hey guys, I just got permission to upload an electronic score to IMSLP, for a piece called "Solitude" by Hans-Christoph Steiner (http://at.or.at/hans/solitude/). I was wondering if any of the admins/moderators could create a genre called "Electronic" for the piece submission. I h...

Re: Hans-Christopher Steiner's "Solitude"
Alright, I contacted the composer and he said that we are free to upload his score on IMSLP. Here's what he said to an e-mail I received from him: "So of course you can use it, under any terms you need to, all I request is that you give credit where credit is due" I have sent him an e-mail...

Re: Petrucci Library Press
Sounds like a very exciting project. I would be great to see some hard-copies of IMSLP/PML-branded scores! I am a bit weary about some things, though. For example, would the hard copies be copyright-less themselves? Would someone be able to scan and re-upload a hard-copy of a score on IMSLP? (I know...

Re: Page about 'Used Sheet Music Stores'
We do have yellow pages, but I'm in Finland now and until December, and even after that I will go back to the UK to continue my studies), so I won't be able to get one soon. I mean, I will go back to Athens for the holiday, so I'll try and do that then. I think it would be best if, instead of starti...

Re: Page about 'Used Sheet Music Stores'
Fair enough :) What about online second-hand shops? :X Do we add them or not? (with http://www.secondhandscores.co.uk particularly in mind, but also http://www.albamusick.co.uk). I know some second-hand score shops in Athens, Greece, but I haven't been able to find any information online (I doubt th...

Re: Proposed new genres
I really like Operalala's list. I think it's very clear and covers a lot of the music that is to be uploaded on IMSLP. Maybe we could have a category called "Incidental Music" for film, videogame music etc etc, and we could even have a category called "Electronic Music" for works...

Hans-Christopher Steiner's "Solitude"
Hello. I was thinking about Hans-Christopher's "Solitude" ( http://at.or.at/hans/solitude/ ) and whether this could be uploaded on IMSLP. The author provides the score and music on his website, and he says all media material on his website (including the score and mp3 file) are licensed un...

Re: Page about 'Used Sheet Music Stores'
I don't know about this idea. I mean, I can see why you propose it, and I can see why it would be great, but problem is - there's tons of tons of second hand music shops around the world. Just think of how many are in your town/city, then how many in the country, then how many in the world. And what...
Re: Favicon
Should we start a new thread page for the logos, or should we continue here? I think a good place to start would be to think what IMSLP/PML represents, what it stands for, and how this can be represented in concrete symbols (because "freedom of information" and "public domain" ar...
Re: Favicon
http://www.freewebs.com/jujimufu/imslp-more.png hm... I think the p in the end of IMSLP doesn't work as well as the p in the beginning of PML. Maybe we could try with a different font for the rest of the letters, because Maestro TImes is too similar to the p ? Or maybe a slightly differently colour...

Re: Favicon
Another advantage of Sibelius over Finale Can't think of many :P (<- devout finale user) Anyway, I think we should stick to IMSLP instead of PML. For one thing, with IMSLP we're first on google, with PML, there's the wikipedia article for Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, a Plymouth Marin...
